Tomás Gutiérrez Alea

Bio

Tomás Gutiérrez Alea (1928-1996) was a Cuban born filmmaker. Most of his films largely focused on post revolutionary Cuba, and the social, political, and economic issues of the country. He was an instrumental part of a cinematic movement known as the New Latin American Cinema. He came into his own as an artists during Cuba's revolution often using the climate to fuel his films.
