Lazaro Rosenberg-Acosta is having a rough time. He makes the mistake of cheating on his fiancé while studying music in Cuba and returns to the mainland
to receive a confrontation that brings him face down to the canvas, packed bags and all. To make things worse, his infidelity has offended the Yoruba deity of Love, Oshun and her wrath manifests in the form of stigmata. Lazaro's mother scrutinizes his deviation from his Jewish upbringing and sees his "voodoo" as a disturbingly similar echo to his deceased Puerto Rican father. Lazaro's road to
salvation is paved with anxiety and humiliation, ultimately leading to the Divine within.
